I cant decide if i want to buy a gear drive...I know there is no reason for it except for the noise, well for me because im not worries about my chain flexing. Its not expencive so i was thinking it would take a day to put on and a day to take it off if i dint like it, no biggie. would it be worth it to just play around with it or would it just be a waste. I know someone is going to say if i want that sound just buy a blower, ha like im rich!? just wondering... thoughts are flowing

The biggest advantage to the gear drive over the chain, is that you don't get any slippage or stretching to disrupt or alter the timing. Also, if the chain breaks, you run the risk of bending valves.

I think they sound horrible. I've heard them on a few chevy enginges, but I'm sure Ford's would sound the same. They drown out the nice sound of a V8.
