Hey guys, as you see I am new here. I recently bought a 65 mustang 289, 3 speed. Car is in good shape, body work has been done and interior is about 80%. Anyways, I have owned a couple old mustangs before and a 67 cougar for a while.
Now to my question. I have the VIN and I did decode what I could...but no drivers door warranty plate. How can I tell more about this car?? I would like to know, orig. int. color, ext. color, date of production, trans., axle. All the stuff you find on the plate, but with only the vin?? Marti reports are only for 67+ if I am right. Can someone help me...

Yeah, I knew the basic de-coding that you could get from the VIN itself, I just was wondering if there was a way to research the info you would normally find on the Warranty plate thats on the drivers door. I wanted the details you can get from that and I didnt know if there was a way to find that information with only a VIN. Like if someone had a site that could find that info.

he wants to know if he can find stuff like the rear end ratio, transmission, color, interior etc. Am i right? I dont know if you can ever find that out without the warrenty plate, but who knows.

 

He doesn't need the warranty number. He already has that. What he needs is the code numbers for Body, color, trim, date, Dso, axle and trans. As far as I know, those can only be found on the door tag.

 

Yeah, thats the stuff that I need. I didnt know if you could get these numbers from somewhere that may have a record of them if you gave them the VIN. I guess some things I will never know, unfortunately.
