Default First time 69 Mach 1 owner

Hello all, i'm sure most of you have seen my post in the 5.0 section. For those that havent let me introduce myself. I'm 18 and i am trading a 68 dodge charger that i just purchased, with my stepdad for his 69 Mustang Mach 1. The charger cost me $2,500

The Mach 1 has a 1990 302HO and a 4 speed toploader tranny. Its in good condition. I'm selling my current car and will have about $7500 of play money. I was thinking about a crate engine to get some power. Here is what i was looking at http://proformanceunlimited.com/spec...1_390carb.html

This car will be a daily driver. I want it to look nice and go fast. What do you all suggest? Anything i should watch out for? Thanks again.

Welcome
My standard answer for a new owner is to drive the car the way it is for a while. Identify what you like and what you want to change before starting down the mod path. You may find that near misses with the car infront of you will make brake upgrades a higher priority than more power.

It was from my dads co workers freinds. Little old lady that just wanted to get rid of it and we saw the oppurtunity knocking. We were gonna restore it but i would soooo much rather trade it for the mach 1. So now i just wanna get some info on the car and know wat to expect and hear ur suggestions on things to do to it.

Brakes and suspension should be your #1 priority. In between those upgrades, I suggest taking care of the little things in the engine that need addressing. You're 18.. well, I doubt an AM radio will last long in that car, I know mine didn't. At least get disc brakes first.

The suspension has been fully rebuilt, new shocks, springs etc. I will be looking at getting some disc brakes. Any tips on where i could get some compatable ones?

As for the sound sytem, heheh, dont worry, i still have amps, a deck, two 10" and one 12" JL subs. Anything i should becareful for when i have the deck installed?

And last but not least what about gauges? I would really like to upgrade the stock ones and get a nice speedo and tach put in there. I also dont want to damage the value of the car.

If you don't want to damage the value, don't mount the system in the original spot. Put it in the dash, trunk, or under your seat if it will fit without squishing it.

Yeah amps and subs in the trunk, so put the deck in the dash? How about putting in new gauges? Any one done that?
