Default More pics!!

Since its been so nice out this week, I pulled it outside and got to strippin the paint and rust off the carcass. Its raining tonight so all my sand is soaked to the pavement. Fun clean up there in a few days. It appears someone else has been to the bare metal before, and they had no clue how to use a DA sander, or they were using a grinder on it. Lots of small gouges and crappy body work.

Cutting the floor out tomorrow and prepping the surrounding areas so I can weld in the new floor. It looks alot better in bare metal than surface rust and green, dont ya think?

Wow. That looks like Sooooooooooooo much work. Is that something super rare, or was it super cheap? I cannot imagine doing that much work to bring it back to life otherwise. Good luck!!!! Impressive work so far.

71 sportsroof with a 351C 2V FMX and 3.50 9" posi. Not super rare but I only paid $20 for it and drove it home. The block, trans and rear are all numbers matching original. Had to change the heads and crank due to cracks.

So far its goin in a restomod direction, still working out what I want to do as I tear it down and find out just how bad it is under there.

The original plan was to restore the body, hop up the engine a bit, add nice wheels and brakes then sell it for a profit. There were reasons for that thinking, mostly having to do with the VA taking its sweet time and me not knowing what % of disability I would get. Well lets just say I dont have to work anymore and I can keep this thing if I want to.

I have other cars in much worse shape, like my 74 Formula 350. I bought it messed up just like this one, but drove it for 4 years before parking it. The entire rear sheetmetal is rusted out now. I should have painted the primer the previous owner put on it.

Too far gone for me is completely different than for other people... if I have a roof and a cowl I can rebuild it..lol...

Well $100 would get the rusted floor pan I cut out today... If I sold the shell, what would I do with the $3k worth of sheetmetal waiting to be welded/bolted onto it? Besides, the 9" is worth more than that, and so is the engine...

You want it as is, its gonna cost about $7k for everything.. lol... You should wait untill its assembled again...
