Cleaning the exhaust?
That darn heavily-leaking power steering system (that I just replaced with a manual r&p system) used to splash tons of fluid onto my headers and exhaust. Now the fluid is caked on and has a less-than-desirable odor once the exhaust heats up. So, how does one clean ceramic-coated headers and stainless steel exhaust? I'd like to take some simple-green and a wire brush, but will that hurt it?
Simple green and a wire brush may do the trick. You might want to use some kind of acid to break it loose. Muriatic comes to mind. But, only leave it on for a few seconds. Or, you might want to research into aircraft exhaust cleaners. I can't vouch for it, but it sounds like it will work. http://www.aeroperform.com/aircraftp...-XD1532-GL.asp

after we spray it on we use a toothbrush to get to those small places.

The Simple green and wire brush might help, but I think I would use either a bit of Muriatic acid or check into the link above for aircraft exhaust cleaner.
