Default ride height

i hear a lot about people lowering the front and rear of there car but i havent heard of anyone raising the rear end. im suprised because it was done a lot to muscle cars as a racing modification. is this still being done and im just noot hearing about it or does no one do this anymore? has anyone ever seen a kit for this modification? Nope, I haven't seen a raised rear in a long time. They just don't look right. The only reason it was done in the stone age was to stuff GIANT tires under there. Not really a good look anymore and it really JACKS up your handling characteristics as well. Leave the rear at the stock height and lower the front, that should work pretty well.

Yeah, Tim....you must be referring to me as the "stone age". On cars prior to the 60's, we used to use extended shackles on the rear so we could get more clearance for big fat tires. Best I remember, the handling was awful, but we could pour some power to the back wheels. Guys have figured out ways to get good handling and a decent ride height from the rear without those stone age mods.

Here is a recent one.

Nice car. Don't care for the rear tire setup.

that would be a beautiful car if it wasnt for that stupid rear tire setup and if it had a little more modest scoop....

its like getting punched in the gut everytime i see one of these classics set up for that pro street crap.....so sad...what a waste.

another problem with raising the rear like that is it killed braking distance.
and by the way in my stoneage days we did it with air shocks
