Default Flywheel plate cover?

Does anyone know where I can get the plate that covers the bottom of the flywheel? Mine seems to be missing and the bottom of my fly wheel is exposed to the deadly debris.....btw i have an auto 68 289 coupe.

Another question. Did my model come with cats? When i was looking for exhuast systems on flowmaster site they mostly say cat-back but when I took a look under my car I have straight manifold to back. If I wanted to upgrade my headers and get a new exhaust system would I have to buy new cats too?
Thanks!
Nathen

That plate is called a dust cover, so during your research use that term.. And, no your Mustang did not come with cat backs. You have no catalytic converter.

Ah....thanks! Can I go to any stang site and pick one up or do I need to go junkyarding?

And about the exhaust question, is there any straight header to exhaust combos? Like say I wanted hooker long headers and flowmaster exhaust...would it bolt right up or would I need to make some modifications?

Check Ebay first, then go junking. It will look something like this. http://i21.ebayimg.com/05/i/06/9a/cb/66_1.JPG

Oh, I always thought those were called inspection plates. For a Flowmaster system, wouldn't you just buy the mufflers with the correct inlet/outlet size and weld it on to some pipes?

I have also heard it called an inspection plate, and I have also heard it called a spacer plate, but when you are searching around, and use inspection plate, or spacer plate as your search words, you will get less responses. The purpose of it is to keep dirt and crap out of the flex plate area. Therefore, the term dust cover. I guess they could all three be used interchangably, but to just say it is an inspection plate, as if a dust plate or spacer plate nomenclature is wrong, is not smart thinking.

Here is what an inspection plate looks like. Is this what you were referring to? Different animal from the dust cover plate that your starter fits into.
