pistons, crank, cam, oil pump, bored .030 over. I want to switch the cam out because it is just a stock cam, i would regret not putting a better cam in.

Is noone a word? I always use nobody because noone looks stupid. It looks like a misspelling of noon.

Can someone tell me where there might be a how to for removing the valve covers on a 289 or tell me how to do it. I'm only taking them off so that I can get the Emissions off but is it necessary to replace them? They've been there since 1967
Is it necessary to replace them? DOH! Yeah..... I think I may start a new contest for the dumbest question from a newbie for the month.
I think he was refering to the valve cover its self and not the gasket.

Just loosen all of the bolts and take'em off. They might be stuck so you might have to pry them. You are gonna need new gaskets for the valve covers.

i believe it was answered...but yeah haha.
