Default $5500 for body work??

went down to my first body shop estimate. Got a 1965 coupe that has primer on top of some blue paint but i want to strip it to the metal to fix EVERYTHING wrong (all bondo work). Body is straight and won need any fixing. Got a quote for $5500. Thats stripping two layers of paint, repainting the car with one basecoat and then 3 layers of grey paint with the black Lemans stripes. and they will fix three floor pans. Plus they will do my front R valance bumper. This is without parts, and only putting on some of the chrome. Yay or nay??

Sounds really cheap. Like, a good deal. Color change even. Stripes. Floor pans. Yeah, if they do quality work that sounds really fair. Check their reputation with other classic owners.

Seems like a good deal to me, I was going to get one of my cars painted and just paint and strips was estimated at about $2500.

If you think a 40 year old mustang will not require much body work you are dreaming. If there is rust in the floor there is rust in the body. That sounds like a good price to me if they are going to do a quality job for you..

oh i know what im getting into, ill have to replace the pass. door skin and trunk probably. i have seen his previous work from the PO and its some good work. They take off the front and rear windshield so im sure they know what they are doing. He said it will take a month if they aren't any back order items. So with that im estimating 2-3 months since shyt never goes my way
