Something wrong with the exhaust system...
Well, I was just getting ready to go eat with my grandpa, leave the house, and when I get to the first light around the block, all I see is smoke...
My exhaust manifold just went from a pretty Ford Blue to a disgusting Grayish White. I don't know what is causing this problem. Please help me out, guys. I'm kinda pissed off right now a lot. The only thing that I have really changed is that the small line that goes from the exhaust manifold to the carburetor (I think it's the choke), is not connected right now. I read that all this does is help heat up the engine, and since I don't have very cold weather right now, I figured I could put off fixing that until I at least got the car on the road again. Is this what is causing this major problem? I doubt it, since there is a LOT of smoke right now and that line is really small. The only other thing I remember is that there was a small sound, kind of like a whistle right when I turned the engine off, and that's it.
Any ideas?

Hi temp engine paint isn't capable of handling the heat of an exhaust manifold, that's why it burned off. Engine paint is for the block, heads and accessories. There is special Hi temp header paint that lasts longer, but eventually even it burns off street driven cars. Ceramic coating works really well, but is kind of expensive (especially in comparison to a can of paint).
If any paint, oil or cleaners got on the exhaust pipe it will burn off as well. Run a car hard at night and you can actually see the manifold and head pipe will have just a very slight bit of red glow.
Works great to heat up burritos, bake potatoes, and pop popcorn.

Engine block paint isn't rated for as high temps as header/manifold paint. I think its the difference between like 500 and 1600. Its probably just paint burning off.....
EDIT: you got me by about a minute.....

It's definitely not the paint. The paint burned off already, but big deal I don't really care. I was just bored. My mom thinks that it might be a piston ring. From one of the holes that have been plugged from the emissions pump, you can see bubbling fluid, not sure if it's water or oil, but dark.
That potentially could be bad news.
The air injection pump port you plugged is a direct shot into the exhaust manifold. By any chance are you still getting white smoke from the exhaust?

Yeah I have some people. Does this mean the entire engine needs rebuilding? I could do it, but I am really not trying to have to go the route that I did with my Dart and watch it sit forever.[:'(]
