Default SHORT BLOCK

My shortblock is here!!!! My question is, How do i get it off of the pallet. It is sitting with the crankshaft upwards. Would you recomend a cherry picker? If so, Where would i connect it with the engine upside down.

Get someone to help you turn it over and lift it how you're supposed to. Don't want anything happenning to your new short block.

IIRC, it will be about 250 lbs. Lay it gently down on the plastic it was wrapped in while still on the pallet with the lifter valley up. Use a couple of extra bolts threaded all the way down in the head bolt holes at oposite corners of the block, closest to the lifter valley . If you've got any flat stock laying around, make two lifting eyes. And yes, save your poor old dad's back and use a chain hoist. It will be much easier for him to reach his wallet, if his back doesn't hurt

Congratulations! That will be a fun project.

My dad is not old enough. He just turned 40 ill have him holding the block. Really. We have a 400 pound tv that we have moved before. My tv is 250 pounds. I will probably end up renting a cherry picker if i can.

a shortblock suprisingly isnt too heavy. bolt the plate of your engine stand to it so that all you have to do is is slip the tube into the stand base. just get a friend and your dan and you be just fine

i can bet you they are pretty heavy. I would just buy a hoist. You will need it sooner ort later. And you can always use them.
