Default Trunk Pressure Valve

So i was cleaning the trunk out when I noticed a little air pressure valve that sticks out. Whats it for? I was thinking possibly air shocks? Becuase I noticed in the front I have two holes in my shock towers that leed to little brake bleeder look-a-like valves....i was assuming air shocks as well...any information is good information. Thanks!

Yeah, those are for airing up air shocks. Get rid of that crap.

Air shocks are normally crap but, if they are good ones, they may not be bad if used right. I have them in my 66 but, they are a good set. They came with the car when I got it, however, you're better off with new springs. I'm in the process of getting a new set of rear springs that give it a 1 1/2 inch lift over stock (stock was always too low). So, use them until you can swing a new set of springs.

Those are good, I have a set waiting to go in my 66 but, I need to replace the springs first or it will sit too low.

That was the thing back in the day. If you wanted to jack up a car in the rear, you just added air shocks, and walllllah, you had a jacked up rear. Same thing with extension shackles. Performance from the rear was crap though, so they were replaced with more modern parts to achieve the same without suffering from performance from the rear.
