the curse?
ok, now i've heard that there is a curse with the '66 mustang. that the cowl, over time, gets water in it via the rain. it gets all rusted because the factory didn't make it right to where it would desperse the water. is there any way to fix this so-called curse without having to be a welder??? thanks...
I've heard of cowl covers that help with leaking cowls. I've never tried one, but my '67 is going to need one, I'm afraid. Here is a link:

The cowl covers are a quick-fix. It won't solve the problem. Are you sure it's leaking? Sometimes the windshield gasket leaking can seem like a cowl. The best way to fix it is to cut open the cowl, cut out and replace the rusty metal, prime and seal the area and re-paint it. Of course this is time consuming and requires cutting/welding skills.
You can get a cowl cover from NPD for about $30. I have one on my 66 and it did stop the leak. It's not fixxed but my feet don't get wet in the rain. Sometimes there is a spot that leaks that you can get to by removing the fenders and patching the rust spots there and no welding or cutting is required.
that happened to my 67, either rust or dead leaves got in there too and would shoot out the vent when opened and when it rained it leaked around that area, i had to have the paint/body shop fix it when i had it painted, it wasnt any problem but he had to do some welding,
