I bought a tach today, and installed it. I LOVE IT. i like watching my RPM's. My engine turns 2700 rpm at 70 mph, and 3000 rpm at 80. not too bad

I forgot what gears you have in the rear Charles. You must be running 355's or better to go 27K RPM at 70. Or, it sounds like you need an AOD. You should be churning around 2K at that speed.

idk, my tag says 2.80:1. I thought it was pretty good....... maybe my transmission is about to go out. i am rough with it.[:@] Tyler, i just bought a cheap one, it was $50.

yep, it was a very straightforward install. im putting one in every one of my old cars.

how exactly does one install it???

i know the mountign the actual guage thing but how do u hook it up to read the rpm's? something to do with the tranny i know.......

lol, i bought it from Advance auto parts. It's a sun pro. super tach 2. i think. IT has 4 wires. a 12+, neg, a wire for the light, and the wire to hook up to the negative side of the coil. it works like a charm. It's smooth, and isn't erratic or anything.

So it doenst connect to the tranny? How does it read your RPMs them?
