Please Help
I have a 1967 mustand V8 with 302 in it, it is a vinyl top and I hate that, I took it off but roof has 5 big wholes in it, I took it to a few bodyshops they toled me i need a new roof Im looking at around 2 thousand dollars just for the roof, I am thinking of cutting the roof I want to have it as topless, is that possible?
I would say it is not an option to cut the roof off due to structural weakness. There have been many cars cut into convertibles here in Australia. Most are unsuccessful.Without the extra strengthing that they have from the factory you are asking for trouble.
Just my opinion.
I'd get some more opinions and quotes on repairing the holes.

Yes, I agree with that. it is indeed asking for trouble to cut the roof...
The roof is an essential body part of the car. It makes the car not to collapse. If you take it away your car looses an important piece of the structure. It's like taking away the middle stone of a bridge...

This is a fair warning to anyone considering the purchase of a classic with a vinyl top. That price for replacing the roof is not unreasonable. To do a good job of making the car into a roadster (top removed with no convertible option) would be even more expensive. There is the "Ronster" kit offered by Mustang Plus ~1300 for the kit, then the labor for the install.
Ya know, even with the cowl hood and all, that Ronster kit car featured looks like a real cute car. But, I an't into cute.
I suppose with enough bracing, the top of a coupe could be taken off and made into a vert. It has been done. But, I agree that you just need to cut out the old cancer spots and add new metal. Seems like the simplest and most cost effective method to me.

the Ronster is anything but cute. if you've ever seen it in person,I live near Mustangs Plus and have watched the car be developed. it was created out of a coupe. There's allot of technology there. E-mail the Bramlet family Mustangs Plus website. THey would be happy to share the info about the car with you.
