Default Front frame rails

The bottoms of my front frame rails need to be replaced. Are there patch panels avail? Everything else is fine, I can't see replacing the entire front frame rails just because the first 8 inches needs to be replaced.

The frame rail is a "one piece deal". The structure support especially in that area you are speaking of precludes doing a "patch". That said, you can always do a reinforcing job, while cutting out the cancer. I would suggest you use a knowledgeable welder. No reason to overbuild, it just needs to be structurally sound, so a regular patch panel wouldn't work.
A nice box structure should be healthy. Especially if you look at installing a full set of torque boxes up front.

As you haven't spent near enough on upgrades and mods yet, This would get you pointed in the right direction.

I know a very good welder so, I think he would not have any problems building a patch of some type to take care of this. Its only the bottom area of the frame extension that needs work. The rest is fine. As far as "haven't spent near enough on upgrades and mods yet", I think $8,500 worth of mods and upgrades over the past 6 months is more than many may spend in that amount of time.

C'mon Slickman, we all know you bleed Ford Blue. That paultry sum is nothing compared to the kind of damage you are truly capable of. Let's not hear any sniveling until your bank slams the door shut on you, or your mortgage broker has your picture on his wall.
[sm=joke.gif] Just kidding with you. That's a pretty good wad to blow. But look at your car. Every penny you've spent shows tenfold.

Yeah, a good welder, could cut out the old stuff and box that in with no troubles. If it's under the car where it is welded to the floor board, I'd seriously consider doing the torque box mod. Makes a pretty big difference. If it's out at the bumper area, I wouldn't get too concerned.

Good luck man,

Scott

You're too funny man..... Yup, the problem area is out by the bumper area, the area by the floor is good.. When my new engine and tranny is all set in place and running fine, I'm going to have some U channel patches made for the bumper area for my friend to weld in.. I know you're only kidding, good thing the wife does not know how much I have spent.. She would have me commited!!

I keep my catalog on the self above the computer thats why I can tell y'all when they have what you need. the repair panal fixes the front 19 inches of the frame extention and includes the bumper mounting nuts. just cut the patch down to what you need to fix the rust.

Thanks, down loaded the catalog and going to call them to verify which one it is. I think its the 124-3 but, its states its an outer repair. So, not sure what that means yet.

The front frame is actually two pieces welded to become one, the inner piece looks like a "c" in profile and the outer piece is welded into the inner piece in a groove to create the rail. The outer piece is where the bumper supports bolt into. The nuts are welded into the inside of the outer piece and is commonly rusted.
