Default Weird chug after turnoff

After i drive my car for a while and try to turn it off the engine makes a weird chug like i shouldn't have turned it off. Almost like its still getting gas when im not hitting the pedal. im kinda thinking this is because of my gears are messed up. like reverse is how to start the car and park is reverse. can anybody give me any help with this?

What you are experiencing is typically caused by too much advanced timing. Is your car also kind of slow to crank especially when warm ? Back the timing off a couple of degrees and I'll bet your problem goes away, it starts easier , runs cooler and performs better. Leave it set where it is and experience the joys of burnt valves and galded pistons if you like but I wouldn't recommend it. JMHO, Dean

no, that involves rotating the dizzy. to retard it(what you need to do) turn counter clockwise a tad. You must loosen the dizzy hold down bolt first.

Find yourself a friend with a timing light. They'll know how to help. Timing by ear is an artform and you'll almost certainly not get it right without a timing light. Don't take a chance and cause yourself further headache. I've been doing it by ear for over 30 years and I still miss by a degree or two now and then. Good luck, Dean

Do you know how to set the timing on your car? If not, get back.
