Default is the 4 core better?

is the 4 core radiator better, or necessary for my '66 289 (not very high performance)? i live in southern cal and stop and go driving is a regular occurance- at times the engine temp, according to the gauge, goes well over the half mark to about the 3/4 mark in these sorts of conditions. maybe a 4 core is the way to go? i'm curious if those that have made the switch from 3 to 4 core have had noticable differences, both positive/negative.
thanks

As most know, overheating is a major problem with early Mustangs. I'd get the biggest radiator I could just as a preventative measure if nothing else.

I have the 4 core in mine. However, the cores are a little further apart and the fins are a little larger on the 3 row. At any rate, if you have a 2 row, then you need to step up to either a 3 or 4 row.
