Default TOOLS?

Aside from screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches and all the basic tools, what are some special tools that I will need to make sure that I have at my disposal for a full restoration? Thanks for any and all advice!

There is one obscure little tool that you simply will not be able to live without. I'll bet most people don't own one but.... Find your Blue Point/ Snap-On dealer and purchase a door panel clip remover tool. It separates the door panel from the door by using a scissor like motion to remove the spring steel retaining clips from the holes in the door. Most people use a screw driver and damage the panel and scratch paint. It looks like a glorified set of pliers. You'll certainly be glad you made the purchase ! JMHO, Dean

You will need some special tools but all in all the Mustang is a pretty basic vehicle. and your basic mechanic tools do most of the work. You will need a torque wrench, bearing puller and if you are doing your own body work...all that stuff too. I just concentrate on one thing at a time and finish it so I don't get overwhelmed by too many projects at once.

in the handy but expensive and room eating category are... Air compressor (bigger really is better here), bead blasting cabinet (always handy for all sorts of cleaning) and a really good floor jack, not some cheap POS wally werld jack that costs $30, get a good one and be done with it.

Coil spring compressors, a small press, a large vise, shop vac, bench grinder, and that sort of thing are always handy to have around. Dont forget safety glasses if you dont wear any and a full face shield for rinding type stuff.

Engine work has a few special tools, and most of that depends on how far into an engine you are going. Same with transmissions, some special tools there as well. Body work uses a completely different type of tool. What kind of projects are you planning?

Air compressor, welder, socket sets, and a dremel. We used the dremel to get to those hard to reach places, and cut out the bad fender aprons. And soon we'll be buying a welder to get the fender aprons back in. Me and my dad are using this as an excuse to get all the tools we need. He's been wanting an air compressor for years.
