Default 2 barrel vs 4 barrel on a 289

Hi, I was planning on changing my 2 barrel to a 4 barrel on a 68 mustang with a 289, but I was just told that the 2 barrel actually has more power than a 4 barrel. Can anyone tell me if this is true or not??

Thanks

That depends on a lot of factors. Normally a 4v with a 4v head and intake will produce more ponies.

At the very least you will get better gas milage out of the 4v as long as you keep your foot out of it as soon as you hit those secondaire the milage is gone

Its not going to add a whole lot of power if you just put an intake and a 4bbl on it, though.

I DO know that the 4v engines have more compression than the 2v engines. The heads are the same on both engines, but in the 4v 289 it has less of a dish than the 2v heads...the HiPo has plain ol flat top pistons...I don't know of the cam differences between 2v and the 4v though...

per Ford part numbers, there are different cams between the C and A codes. What the difference is, I have no idea
