1964 1/2 Interior Color
I have a 64 1/2 Mustang with Red interior. The problem I am having is that the interior is not bright red, but rather more of a maroon color. It was my understanding that maroon was not offered until 66, but these door panels are 65 and are maroon, not the bright red. Can someone help me with this, I am finding that all the items that are available to purchase are the bright red and do not match my interior.
The Trim code is 85, Red Crinkle Vinyl, Standard Interior.
Thanks in advance for the replies.

The door panels on a 65 and 66 run the pleats in different directions. 65 is vertical and the 66 is horizontal. Go to Mustangs Unlimited and check out their catalog. They have tons of stuff and it is correct. You can use it as a guide of sorts for some things. They tell you if it is standard or otherwise.

The 85 interior color code is red on red. And, it is a bright red and the only interior red color offered in 64. Someone may have swapped out the original bright red at one time. Here is a pic of a 64 1/2 with red interior.

Thanks for the replies, I am aware of the door panel difference between the 65 and 66. This vehicle has 65 door panels on it, but they are not bright red. Here is a link with some pictures: http://www.vaneefamily.com/gallery/Mustang

Checked out your gallery. Extremely nice ride! Best I've seen...you should be proud. It all looks bright red to me except the panels. Hope you find what you're looking for. I have a 66 and some of the maroon I've seen is too dark. Keep searching I guess.

Dye lots, aging, UV exposure all could be contributing factors as to the color variation. Your driver's seat looks more maroon than the passenger seat in your car. I have seen variations in the black material in similar fashion.
I believe some of the interior has been replaced in the past. The dash pad has been changed for sure, but I think the paint on the dash is original. I have ordered new door panels, so I will be able to see the contrast when they arrive. I have already replaced the arm rests with the bright red (correct 65) and the look out of place. I guess time I will have to see how everthing looks when it get here. I may just spend the money and get a whole new interior kit for it. I have only owned this car for about a month, so I don't know much more than that about the history. Thanks for all the replies.
