Finished installing my shoulder belts!
Just finished installing my new shoulder belts. I purchased some black (should have been blue for easier dying) and recolored them pony blue. I made my own mounting for them.. They sell a set for mustangs but, $250 is a bit too much for seat belts.. So, took that idea from the pictures they had posted for the advertisement and went from there..

One of the greatest things about an old mustang is not having to wear a damn shoulder belt..................... WHat I really wish is it didnt have belts at all like my 63 chevy truck.
Very nice! Even thought I am considered part of the "over the hill gang" I like what you have done.It adds a whole new demontion to safty and would like more specifics on what and howyou accomplishe this project. I have been looking at the sholder harnes as part of next year's upgrade on the enterior.
I do understand.. I put them in because I don't like not having them. When I was 16 I got into a very bad accident and as a result had last rights. If I was wearing a shoulder belt, I would not have gotten hurt at all. I was 170 lbs at the time and when I finally got out of the hospital, I was 98 lbs.
So, the shoulder belts go in..

I purchased these Seat Belts Then made my own spacers with fiber washers to mount on the rear qtr... I used ST STL carriage bolts and dilled the mtg holes in the qtr were the door seals. You can see it in the pics..

Nice job, Slickman! Hey I was wondering the difference between mountint the shoulder strap to behind the door vs. up on the roof behind the driver's head. I heard somewhere that the lower mounting point can cause...compression of the spine or something? I have no idea, and I know all convertibles must have a lower point so it can't be too bad at all.
Nice job Slickman. I plan to install 3 point belts in my car this summer, mostly because they are required for mounting a baby seat in the car. Got our first child, a baby girl, in january, and now she is ready to be introduced to the mustang scene.
It depends on how tall you are. Your shoulder shouldn`t be more than about, lets say, 4-5" higher than the mounting point.
That said, either way you mount your 3-point belts, they are allways safer than 2-points over the hips.

looks good bro. you said the belts were black and you dyed them blue? not bad. the kinda have a slight aqua color to them, but are a nice touch.
