Default Need help with final exhaust

so i just put on headers and am looking for a really good exhaust setup. i know exhuast is talked about a lot, but i still have some questions. i have a 67 with a 289 and i was thinking an x pipe with 2.5 piping with 40 series flows and tail pipes. this would be costing me for everything around 500. but i was hearing so much talk about how good the h pipe is and how deep the sound would be. what i want to know is how much a change from x to h their is. like a huge difference or just a slight one. and if tail pipes would be a plus or to just get down turns.

There is a slight difference in the tone of the H to X pipes. The X pipes allow your engine to breathe better, and the 40 series flows will give you plenty rumble. So, I would opt for the X pipe if I were you. Either way, just be sure you have either an H or an X pipe put on there.

The turn downs will give you more of a rumble inside the car, but I wouldn't think you would want that. You want to hear the rumble outside the car, so exit out the rear. I put chrome tips on mine. Guys with GT's have them exiting out the rear valance with trumpet tips. Mine is just a C code, so I stayed with originality

for the 68's there is just a slight cresent on each side, no cutout. i believe there was dual tips from each pipe. (i just ordered one)

and i have an X pipe with flowmasters on there and it sounds very mean. i didnt put it on and i dont know how to identify what model flowmasters they are but it sounds very rude and savage. its got a great idle but once u get on it, it roars...and once u get to cruising speed it calms down to a subtle drone that is very pleasing actually. so this x-pipe or h-pipe stuff...i really dont know about....id just get the x-pipe cuz its gona sound good no matter what and u will get better flow so who cares? eh?
