i was wondering how you can tell wether or not a car is a GT based on the VIN#? i'm new to the mustang/car realm and trying to take things one step at a time. haha
VIN: 7r01a131533
Go to the faq at the top of this page and click on that, then scroll down to the link for mustang decorer, if you have the waranty # and the vin# you can find out what the car came with
im not sure if the VIN tells if its a gt or not, im new too so im not sure. but i looked it up and all i could gather was that it was assembled in San Jose, its an A code engine and its a normal coupe
The VIN won't identify it as a GT. There are some other tell-tale things to look for such as, the GT Equipment Group consisted of the grille-mounted foglamps, power front disc brakes, dual exhausts with chrome quad outlets , F70x14 tires, GT gas cap, the handling package, rocker panel stripes, and GT or GTA (for automatic transmission equipped GTs) emblems. Other options available only with the GT Equipment Group was the Competition Handling Package, consisting of firmer suspension components, limited slip rear axle and fifteen-inch wheels with wire wheel covers.
