Default re-chrome or replace??

Price-wise what is the most efficient thing to do when it comes to bumpers and trim. Take it to get it rechromed or just replace it??

Also, does anyone know where to get a set of hood hinges for a fiberglass hood?? Thanks.

The repops are OK, but certainly not the thickness of the originals. Re-chroming is the concours and best approach. But, if you are not into concours restoration, then the repros are just fine. They may not fit as good as the originals though. Ask me how I know.

Will stock hinges work with an aftermarket fibreglass hood??

You can use the stock hinges with a glass hood, but you need to take the springs off, that will keep from damaging the hood, Mine has been run that way for several years with no problems at the hinge mounting points.

If you have a local powdercoating shop, some of them have something that airbrushes on, and looks exactly like chrome. And it will never get the little yellow dots. Not sure of the price.Or you could powder coat them, perhaps black?

Whats the cost of an average rechrome, and what kind of place does it? I think if I were to do that I would be dealing with someone at least 4 states away. lol

If you have a custom chopper shop or something of that sort, they may be able to help...

I like to keep my car as original as I can, in my case I will recrome them..but that is only my opinion.

Thats not reassuring to hear since I bought a brand new front bumper. (Previous Owner + Beer + pole/wall = front end smashed)

And my rear bumper is so rusty you'd think it came that way.
