I had a 68 Fastback with a 200 cid and I put a glass pack on it...you could hear me a long time before you could see me. It will give you a raw, nasty sound...unlike a flowmaster or the like that will give a cleaner but mean sound. I think that glasspacks will give you what you want.

My father bought a 1959 Ford back when, and I added a glass pack to it. Man, I thought I was the meanest thing going. It didn't improve the HP, but it sounded like it did. Now, that was back when I was 17. Now that I am 62, I truly hate that sound. It doesn't sound mean, it just sounds like you need to buy a new muffler.

If my understanding is correct, they both are the same as far as loudness goes. But I know X gives slightly more performance in sacrifice for a tad less rumble. People describe X pipes as a little bit more "raspy" than H.

Also, wouldn't a change in cam help?

that changes the "beat" of the exhaust "music" i think more so than the actual volume or "feel it in your chest" vibration power.

this is the flowmaster system that i got without H or X pipe. I got it before I knew about the X-pipe and H-pipe so, I was thinking about buying the universal X-pipe from JEGS and taking it to the muffler shop and have them weld it on and install it back in.what do you guys think of this idea.
