Default '68 Coupe

Hey, I am looking at buying a beaten to hell 68 coupe, to I thought I would ask you classic guys some questions. Alright, the car is in bad condidtion, the floor on the passenger side needs to be replaced, you can see the ground through it (its come apart where the floor meets the door just before the seat), its been hit in the rear end, on the right side (driver side) so the back is all bent in and the bumper is gone, because of the hit the rear right quarter panel needs to be cut off anf replaced, also the front right quarter panel and the rear left quarter panels need to be replaced (I think they do at least, they sound hollow we i was knocking on them compared to the front left one which sounded soild/firm), the hood needs to be replaced, it is badly rusted on the inside, the right door exterior panel needs to be replaced, its got a hole in it and is pretty rusted, and of course the interior needs a complete redo, dash/seats/center console (which isn't even there). What seems to be good on it is the 289 eng, the guy said he put a new tranny in it so i don;t know about that, all the glass is ok, lol. Now, I have not heard it running, or had the cahnce to look under neath it so i don't kno the extent of the damage, I do know that it does not effect the drivers side because i sat in the car and flet no sagging/bending or anything what so ever. My main question to you guys is what do you think it would cost to fix up and put on the road, my buddy and I are going to do all the work, but I am wondering what it will cost to buy new pieces such as the quarter panels and what it would cost to fix the floor, etc. I can buy this for 700$ cash, (that's in Canadian dollars[sm=smiley2.gif]). I am going to buy this car regardless, but I just want to get some rough numbers for prices. Also could I drop a carb 302 from the 80s into fine...or would it have to be one that is from the 60s/70s?

I will have pics of it up later so you guys can actually see what it looks like, but bare with me, they were taken with a cell phone and are not the best of quality.

Thanks.

Floor pans are a pretty common thing to replace and not really that difficult. Frame rail and torque boxes are what you really need to look at. Definatley make sure that the rear frame rails are not bent from being hit in the back. You also can drop in an 80's 302. It will have electronic ignition, so you'll just have to hook that up. All cars didn't have the console. I don't know what 700 is in canadian dollars, so I don't really know if its going to be a good deal or not.

Ya, tomorow after work I want to tow it to a garage, or anywhere were I can get it up, and look/have them look at the frame and the whole under neath of the car. Because if the frame is gone to hell, the car is pretty much gone too. And ya, I really want to look at the back end of her to see what exent the damage is of the hit, im hoping that the frame is still good and the hit was mostly just the big visible dent...

10 grand USD...or CAD?

Your could get it back on the road for less than 10. Just depends on how nice you want it to be.

I have more if you want, but these should be enough to show what the car currently looks like.
