The time has come...
Driving a classic car has its up and downs. The looks and the waves put a smile to your face every time you go out. The maintanence however, is not too fun, although it can be.
Over a year ago, I bought a 1967 green mustang coupe for 10,000, and earlier this week, I just sold it.
I'm a commuting student and I drive 30 miles a day on average. I dont make too much money and the oil companies and OPEC dont seem to care about that. In Texas, the summer heat is just too much for an engine(and myself) having to sit in traffic. The problem with all these things is the simple fact that the mustang is my only car and daily driver. Combining all these problems is just too much for a classic car to handle.
Adding on top of all that, I had to replace the head gaskets a couple weeks ago. Since I dont really know how to do it, and I didnt want to screw it up, I had a shop do it. Not very cheap.
However, there is good news. I got 13,000 for the car and I sold it to my best friend's dad, so I get visitation rights and the peace of mind knowing that it's going into good hands.
But dont worry, I'll still frequent these forums...too many good people in here. Maybe some day in the future when I'm more financially stable I can get another stang, but for now I'm going with something that's reliable with good gas mileage and decent air conditioning.

Sorry to hear that Allen. You had a beautiful classic that I am sure you are going to miss driving, but I understand. If you just need a daily driver, and you can't afford a classic as a daily driver with iffy air conditioning, etc,. then you made the right choice for you. However, your mustang that you just sold will continue to escalate in price, where your new daily driver will just melt down to zero in a few years. With a few upgrades, your mustang could have a great air conditioner and brakes, etc. But, that was your choice, so I will support your decision.
DUDE!
Good move on your part. Besides, when you're done with School you'll be making the big bucks and can buy a Shelby.
Don't forget to let your friends dad know about this site, and do stop in when you have time.
Eee-Gadds, I just realized something really important!
Who's gonna help all us "photo-chop" challenged folk?
Thanks for all your insite and helpful posts. Best of luck to you in school.
Kick butt and take "A"s !

I've got several cars in mind, most of them are imports.
I really hate to buy a non-american car, but I just dont like the styling of today's US cars. I'm not sure what it is, but nothing catches my eye.
I'd get a truck if it werent for the gas mileage issues.

Great looking car! You'll be back...I sold my 56 Chev 2dr hardtop in college in 1969 to buy an engagement ring; I sold our 70 Triumph Spitfire to buy a car that fit a family in 1975; 30 years later I got a 66 Mustang vert with my wife pushing the idea all the way...now she wants a coupe for a daily driver!
That was a very nice coupe !
Love the colour and it was detailed very nicely. What colour is that ?
I'll bet it hurt to let her go but your time will come again.
I had a 71 coupe when I got married in 1984.I was unemployed for the first time in my life and had nothing but the car.I sold it and half the money bought us a block of land.We built a house and we were on our way in life.
Now I've just bought my second Mustang a 66 GT Coupe.
I'm sure it will all work out the same for you.
Good luck....Ron Downunder
