Default car trouble

today my car started acting funny. when i was going around 15 or 20 it started cutting out i sped up and it was fine. i got home and checked the oil and trans fuild. i was half a quart low on my oil and my trans fluid was on the add mark so i put a quart in. it still cuts up only when im going slow i thought it might be a vaccum line but there all hooked up correctly. has anyone else ran into this problem or similar to this? thanks

Tell us the particulars about your car. What year, engine, carburetor, ignition system (points or electronic) transmission, and if you use it as a daily driver. That might help us narrow it down a bit.

When was the last time it had a tune up? Like spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor (if it has one), or had the points checked. Sounds like an ignition problem to me. If its had one fairly recently, then the next step is the carb. Maybe a bad accel. pump. or there might be junk plugging up the float, etc.

Try tweaking the air/fuel mixture screw. You could be running a tad either rich or lean. Screw it in all the way, then back it out about 2 turns. See if that helps. If not, get back......

You might have a small vacuum leak somewhere. Base of the carb perhaps. Get some starting fluid and with the car running spray around the vacuum lines base of the carb, where the intake meets the head and if the rpms increase slightly you have a vacuum leak, then replace as neccessary.
