now it only shakes and studders while im in gear and stopped . does anyone know what it could be? when i put it in neutral its fine

 

just neutral or neutral and park? and what do you mean by shudders? does it just vibrate the car or the motor sounds like it's coming out. could be trans mount loose or really rough idle. i had an idle prob with a few of my cars and noticed it was a nit worse when the car was in gear than when in park or neutral.

 

Yeah, rough idle. Maybe your valves are adjusted too tight, or it's idled down too low.

 

Also, check your motor mounts to make sure one isn't broken.

 

it stops only in neutral it sounds like its going to die and the whole car shakes. no mounts are broke or lose i think its the idle on it ill be back soon

 

ok just got back took it to a shop they said it might be my fuel pump and fuel line going into the carb does this sound right?

 

i had a problem with my 89 5 speed four banger. the bushings on the trans mount mount rotted out and there was no cushion there. when ever i shifted it would fall and than pop back up. i lost quite a bit of the minimal power i didn't have to lose in the first place. down shifting became non existant after i realized what had happened. i also lost (couldn't re-install) one of my motor mounts. i don't remember which side, all i remember was it was the side all of the tq TURNED into.

 

yeah, if you're not getting proper fuel to your carb and/or from your carb to your motor, it would prolly idle purdy rough. check it out and let us know the findings.
