i replaced my sleinoid and put all the wires back the way they came. i took it for a spin around downtown and when i got home it wouldnt turn off. even with the key out of the switch. what did i do wrong? please someone help

 

u got a wire wrong somewhere its giving the coil constant power

 

i have the positive battery wire, the positive wire for my radio, and i think its the wires that lead to the alternator all on the positive terminal and i have the black wire on th other terminal plus the two little wires dont know the name of the but they hook onto the front of it on those two front little terminals.

 

Your solendiod is only there to tell the starter to start cranking. Your IGNITION SWITCH is bad. Its the thing that the key sits in.

Your coil isn't connected to the soliniod is it?

 

no my coil is on the other side of my engine. oh the wonders of a i6.

 

Its probably the original.... the thing is 40 years old its bound to go sooner or later. Its just worn out.

well, then it's possibly the igintion switch then.

 

i figured it out i was getting spark on a neg. terminal i fix it for now i think
