Default engine question

Im just getting into learning about cars. Im currently restoring a 68 stang ith the 20-0cubic inch straight 6.

My question is, what would i need to do to put a 5.0L mustang engine into from an early 90's ltd? How difficult of a process would it be? Any tips and input is welcome

THANKS

hello,
it will be quite difficult, especially if you are new to mechanics and fabricating. you will need to update the steering, suspension and brakes. update the rearend and drive line. you will need to fabricate engine mounts because i think the different generation 302's would have different mounting points. if it is efi you will need to wire in the computer to control the fuel. you will need to update the fuel system. it would also be good to stiffen the ride up through the frame. it will be hard but fun. i am doing a 66' coupe right now. get some books on restoring and search the internet for good deals on parts. most of what you will have to do will be bolt on stuff, but that doesn't mean that even that will be easy.
good luck,
jonny

any recomnedation on what engine might be a good place to start. I know that i want an 8 and not the 6. What engine sizes and years might involve less fbrication to put in.

Any V-8 engine will require the numerous parts and fabrication. Why do you want an 8? If it's for the power, check into this site www.fordsix.com . Those guys have a great way of taking sixes and making some excellent HP from them. Another thing to consider is trying to sell your car and get a V-8 equipped one. I don't mean to rain on your parade, but without the necessary parts/fabrication it is impossible.
Now, if you can get your hands on a v-8 car that has a crappy body, you can just switch the parts(wiring, mounts, suspension, etc...)and ditch the body.

Thanks for that site. Gives me a lil more to chew on. The main reason i was thinking 8 was to get bigger power. An 8 is a better performance platform than the 6.
