electrical?

Default electrical?

hi i ve got a 1967 289 stang and ive gutted it and now putting it back together and having problems with getting the ignition and power to work tried 2 batteries and still nothing it wont even turn over lights wont come on or anything i had to replace the firwall harness the headlights and all that but still no power any suggestions it like i got a bad ground or somthin i dont know i also need toknow where i can find a full wiring diagram that would be awsome thanks

Sounds like you don't have the solenoid wired correctly. All the wires to the harness with the big lugs should wire up to the same side of the soleniod as the positive side of the battery. I have a schematic on PDF. e-mail me your address so I can do attachments and I will send it to you.

yeah, sounds like your main power wire that goes to the switch isn't hooked up.

i had the wiring right .. got the headlights working i had to plug in the dimmer switch to get them to come on , now im having problems gettin the ignition to respond turn the key and nothing no click no nothing my buddy tried to direct juice the startor and nothing happend so im thinkin its shot? i really dont know this one connector is really bugging me it square and has 2 red and 2 black commin out of it and its right by the throttle linkage but i dont have any thing to plug into it ?

The four wire connector coming through the fire wall is what is keeping it from starting. There should be a harness that goes to the trans. Two wires for back up lights and 2 for neutral safety. You need to run a jumper on the ones for the neutral safety to get the key to crank the car. That harness is probably on the old trans. The three wire connector is for the coil, temp sender and the oil pressure sender. The starter may not be cranking because of a bad ground. Yes you need a ground wire. I usually run a big fat wire, like a starter wire, from the block to the frame where the motor mount is. I don't mess with that little factory one that goes from the block to the firewall.

ok well i checked it all and now im down to that square connector if i crossed it right is it male to male or female to male? and i got the ground cable on and juiced the starter and it tried to turn over so im thinkin the solenoid is fried so im off to get anew one but the igntion is still getting no response when i turn the key?
