Default 1968 Pony Center Console??

This car I picked up was restored a bit but I do not know if this console was original or not. A guy I know has a similar one that he says he thought may have been for a sport model or something? I am a newbie obviously and sorry for the stupid question, but I'd like to know if htis was a recent aftermarket or actually original. (uh, yes I knwo the radio it NOT original!!) Thanks! Thanks 67t! Was this for any particualr model or was it in pretty much every model? Also, I lifted the silcer "gate" on it and I am not sure what you are supposed to do there. It looks like a mini garage to put things in but there are no inside walls or anything. Seems kinda pointless???

no it was not on every mustang, in fact it was a 65 dollar option in 68 and was standard in the interior decor group package which includes: upper and lower consoles, clock, locking glove box ,remote mirror etc. but all items listed could also be ordered sepereate

I don't want to high-jack this post but, It's amazing, they could never get that Pony blue to match. I went through every part inside my coupe and re-finished them to match.
