68 coupe??
back in 68, the workers had a strike etc etc. That means there were only 330,000 something cars built in 68. About 220,000 of them were coupes. That makes them kinda rare...... sorta. well, my cousin is about to sell his 68, which needs alot of work........ ALOT. I have seen it before, i dont really know the extent of the damage though. If i decide to buy it, i will sell my chevy truck, and get it. Just wanted to let you know, and ask about the rarity thing.

isnt 220,000 almost 2/3 of 330,000? i would think fastbacks and converts would be alot rarer.

and to answer your question, i am going to say one thing:

to get a good idea and be able to give you a good idea in return, we would definatly need some pics. all we have to go on to give you any advice is you saying, "it needs a lot of work, ALOT".
alot of work to you, could be a days job for someone else (no offense intended here). give us a few pics and a run down of what needs to be repaired. mainly you wanna look at frame rails, torque boxes and the undercarrage. basically, if the body's strong and clean, you can get rid of everything else and replace it if need be. the body is what's really gonna drain you out, IMO.

220,000 IS 2/3's of 330,000 making them not so rare, regardless of the strike. you wanna get a rare mustang worth more than anything, anywhere (sorta), find the one with serial number 1!

Guys, I wasn't meaning the coupes were rare. Im talking about 68 mustangs are more rare then almost any other old year, since they only made 330, 0000. Thats not alot for a year for mustangs. They usually exceed 600,000. Also, When i say alot of work, I mean it. I have worked on cars my whole life. I do body work, and almost every think else. I want to go and look at the underside soon. Maybe sometime this week.

but back on track, yeah, i guess that would make them rare. the way i look at it, it's a 40 +/- year old car, it's rare to me. you see foxes and sn95's and new edges and s198's all over the place, anything before that you don't see too often.
yeah, my friend, the one i bought my 66 off of, has a 68. not origional tho, he had a 347 and blew that up three times before going with a 302 + .030 over + nitrous but that still = him dead or wrapped around a tree! LOL!
