vinyl top or hardtop?
I've got a 66 coupe that originaly had a black vinyl top on it, im not a really big fan of vinyl tops but I've heard some people say that vinyl tops are kind of rare. Is there any truth to that?
well, there are a lot of classics around here (they hide for a big part of the year tho!) and i have only seen a few w/vinyl tops, maybe 2 or 3 and only at car shows. personally, i'd see if there is a place that can re do it for you, if so, take the top off and make sure the roof is in good cond. and throw the vinyl back on. that's just me tho. you could even put a few bux into it and since you're not too big on the vinyl's sell it (for a nice sized profit!!!) and go out and get yourself a nice clean non-vinyl topped coupe. just my .02 cents.

or, you can just take off the vinyl top if you dont like it, mine used to have a vinyl top but someone before me took it off. and they spot welded the holes badly, well they just didnt sand some of them down to smooth.
We'll be "adding" a black vinyl top to ours before we are completed with it. For reasons that may just offend some but we want to have a '67 that resembles our 06 convertible. (and it'll be a closer match to the '67 convertible that is in our future)

well, as i said, my car was originally a vinyl top car, and the roof is rusted so im going to cut the top off and replace it. the way i figure it is that i can make it a hardtop, and if i ever decide to go back original, i can always just put the vinyl top back on

but i agree with "whatever floats your boat". people i know hate fb's, others hate coupes, converts, ect. to each their own. like soaring said, the big drawback is the rust problem.
