Default Got the tail lamp harness installed

A few days ago, I posted some pics of my rag tag tail light harness that had been southern engineered. Anyhoo, I replaced it from front to rear with a new harness. I had to take out the back seat, rear interior quarter panel piece, the scuff guard, the kick panel and had to lay on my back under the dash for an incredible amount of time. I am going to feel that when I get up in the morning. Anyhow, it's all tucked away and works great. I hope I never have to do this again for the rest of my life. I hate wiring, and especially in small places where you have to use a flashlight to see what the hell you are doing, and the flashlight keeps falling over. The front section was just a plug in deal, but I had to splice and solder the rear. I hate electrical tape, so I used heat shrink. Sure made it look clean. Take a look at the finished product.

very nice, and i'm sorry to hear you're gonna be feeling it in the morning. if it's any consolation, i just pulled my back out today sliding a 325lb patient back onto a bed. the dood decided after i told him to roll towards me that he wanted to do the opposite and roll away from me causing me to have to bend and twist my back to keep him moving and not jack the sheets right out from under him! [:@]

oh, well, by time i get around to re-wireing my car i hope i can pay someone to do it for me! LOL! or at least have enough surgeries to sustane my freedom of motion to get thru the processes. i can deal with the pain, but not limited motion!

Soaring, have you ever thought about putting in sequential LED tail lights in that bad boy, or does that go against your morals?

Ya know, that crossed my mind at one time, and I even researched it. But, then I got to thinking.......I ain't gonna see those sequential lights blinking, that only others are going to see it, so why should I pay for something that only others will see? I like to see others who have it, but I ain't gonna waste my money on them. 'sides that.......it ain't ORIGINAL.

Sorry about the old back bud. I don't have a bone problem, just old muscles that tend to get sore after laying on the rail in an awkward position trying to look up under the dash to hook up wires. I have never paid anybody to do any mechanical work on my old 65, and I am not going to start now, even at the age of 62. I guess when I get too old to enjoy working on it, I will just give it to my son.

well, it's crazy. due to my knees, you, having 40 years on me, can probable sit in places and positions i can't. but like i said i can stand the pain for now adn when i have the surgery the problem will be solved, but i will have arthritis like pains and eventually arthritis.

but, this will not stop me from doing the things i enjoy so much as my cars! i wanna do as much of the work myself, but the idea of being able to psy someone to build this type of thing for you is just wild in my mind!

oh, i saw a late 60's (maybe early 70's but i highly doubt it) T-bird by my office a few weeks ago with the sequentials. if i'm not mistaken, that was the way it was on a few classics. they had the sequential's from the factory, right?

and who gets to shell out the $125+ a pop for these bad boys? you or the gov't? cause we both know what the answer is. i do agree with that tho. i am putting the leds on just for the fact that they are brighter.

Be careful with red in a red lens. You actually can't see them. No reflection. Maybe the circuit board kind but stay away from the 1157 replacement. It'll get you killed! Had them on my Harley and by dusk my frioends said they could not see my taillights. FYI, IMO

I think I am just a tad dumber than the average Ford engineer who designed the tail lights for our old ponies. Hell, I had a hard time just hooking it back up to original specs with the new harness. You don't need any brighter tail lights than we already have. They could be bigger, and maybe even using a back window stop light upgrade would help with ID that you are stopping, but I hate those. I'll stick with my old 42 year old technology and when I hit the brakes my old tail lights will tell you that I have hit the brakes. If you can't see those, you have either been drinking too much, or you are blind. Sequential lights are a gimmick. Just like the aftermarket European tail lights they put on newer Mustangs. They really look dumb IMO.
