you wanna blow out the bottom of your tranny?i worked with a guy who told me when he was about 10-11, him and his brothers took the family station wagon, threw it in reverse, flew down the driveway and when they got to the bottom threw it into drive! blew out the trans BAD! there was fluid EVERYWHERE!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!
you could do it a few times, but your tranny won't hold up to the abuse.
When I was in high school back in the late 50's and very early 60's, we would drag race our old cars on the local farm to market highway where nobody used very often, so it was relatively safe. One of the guys had a '57 Chevy with a 283, and my dad's Ford pickup truck had V8, and I don't remember which engine it was, but it was quick with the 3 on the tree. This guy bet me a tank of gas to run the 1/4. I accepted. As we were sitting waiting for my GF to wave us off, this guy revved his 57 up in neutral. I just waited until the flag dropped before I gave it max gas. Well, the end of the story is that he dropped his tranny, and I of course won the tank of gas.

Yeah, but we only made 50 cents an hour at our jobs as teens. That would equal a full long day of labor. How much do you guys make for a full 10 hours of work today? We were too poor to race for titles of our cars, but a tank of gas was a gouge in our wallets back then.

i get paid bi-weekly and my check every two weeks amts to 573.xx. technically, it was a better deal to win a tank of gas than, than it is now, based on what was made a hour. it's actually like that now over in japan. when they street race they do it for a tank of gas not slips. the vast majority of street racers in japan work shoddy jobs as like gas station attendants and the like and put every last dime they make into their cars. than when they race the best prize for them is a tank of gas.
You all may not believe this, but its true. My cousin was driving his cavalier down the interstate at 70 and forgot he was in the automatic and accidently shoved it into reverse. He said the wheels locked, the engined died, and he squaled all the way to a stop. Put it back in drive and drove away. Didn't have any problems after that either.
i have accidently put my stang into reverse while driving TWICE. my bushings are gone in my shifter. Nothing real bad happened. It cut the engine off, but it did break some lug nuts off........ i think thats what did it.
