Default crooked 69 engine mount

I'm helping a friend out who had a bunch of resto-rod work done by a bunch of hacks that left a large laundry list of screwups, body and mechanical. It's a 69 coupe with a 302 and the engine sits listing towards the passenger side. My questions are the mounts backwards and/or how to identify them. You would be sad if you saw all the hacks, he paid good green for bad work.

Hi Jason, and welcome to the classic section of MF. You say the engine tilts toward the passenger side as if the driver's side mount is too high? Is that what I am reading?

Yes I think that it looks high on the drivers side. but I was wondering if there's a difference on the engine part of the mount because it looks like there can only be one way for the frame part of the mount to work.

Eyeball the mounts to see if one is broken (separated). Better still, jack up the engine so you can get a good look to see if the mount is broken. Most likely the one on the driver's side. If so, then consider upgrading to a stronger set of mounts. Take a read here. http://www.autoworksracing.com/Total...tor_Mounts.htm

That's more than likely it, there appeares to be a 1/4 to 3/8 inch gap when viewing from the the top when compared to the passenger side. I guess he'll hafta throw some more green at it. I'll add a snap of the car, it's sill a cool ride even hacked (a lot less hacked when I get done with it, I've done restos before). that's a 53 studey in the background
Thanks Jason

I think he's got about 15 to 17 in shop work but the shop that did the work couldn't even mount the hood square I could fit my fingers in between the hood and the cowel. The doors had huge gaps and the trunk had a 1/4 inch of overhang in the back, they had done no prefitting before the paint and did not remove all the surface rust well, there are some small spots have already separated. If you look close their shape work... well it stinks there are waves in the hood and top of the passenger quarter not to mention the roof waves and the door bottoms. Lack of detail form a shop that is suppose to be detail. Like I mention in the first post, the laundry list is large and I haven't even mentioned the crap they did interior and mechanical. To boil it down, I think he paid about twice the amount he should have for the quality of work he recieved.

If that dark blue Mustang is the car you are talking about, I think you might be a little picky or **** retentive regarding the body work. Looks pretty damn good to me.

Yea I may be a little bit **** about it but that’s what puts a car in the top picks at a show and increases the overall value of the car
Thanks for the help on the mounts, Jason
