Default WHAT A DAY

I sorta ran my car off the road again..........[:@] and now my wheels are cocked way out of alignment, but the shims are still in place, so im sure i bent something. It needed an alignment anyway. ANYWAY, Now my starter is starting to act up. It's just spinning and not engaging. Every now and then it'll engage and start. I was thinking it was due to the HEAT, as it's grazing 100 degrees out here, and my car is getting very hot. I've been letting it cool, and will attempt to go start it again. IT could also be the relay going out.

Not the relay. Mine would whir every now and then and not start, but after the second attempt it would grab. Well, this went on for about a month, then it finally gave up and just whirred. So, 50 bux later, and she starts every time. The little gear gets torn up, or thew spring tears up. Now, why in hell are continuing to run off the road? Learn to drive noobie.

Its the bendix in the starter. You can get it for about 8 bucks and just change it.

I wouldn't waste my time with the frustrating work it takes to replace the bendix or the gear. Just get a rebuilt one. That takes about 3 nano seconds to change out and you are back on the road again.

Seriously, Replacing the starter bendix is maybe 5 to 10 minutes. $30 dollars is a lot of money when its not necessary. Or at least it is to me.

Yeah, but then you have other worn parts that will have to be replaced eventually anyway. However, if you have a lot of time on your hands and like to screw around with this stuff, it is certainly a challenging and rewarding experience.
