Default No Brakes!!!!!!!!!

[>:]Anybody have this problem? My brake pedal goes to the floor almost effortlessly. The car will stop, but not very quickly. I've changed the master cylinder twice, bled the brakes half a dozen times and the brake pedal feel never improves. My car came from the factory with disc in the front and power brakes. The drums are adjusted properly where the drums rub lightly on the shoes as I takes them on and off. I just don't know what to do next. Not safe like this.

Hello noob, and welcome to the Classic section of the Mustang Forums. Just for grins, check the vacuum hoses on your booster. Additionaly, take off your master cylinder and bench bleed it. Then start from the rear driver side and work your way to the rear passenger side, then the passenger front, then lastly the driver's side front to bleed them. You obviously still have air in the system if your shoes are slightly rubbing and the pads are installed correctly.

Thanks Soaring for your reply, been a while since i've logged on. I'll try again to bench bleed, then bleed the system. In your opinion, should I replace the 36 year booster while i'm there, even though it seems to work well (could this be my vac leak)?

if none of that works either try your prop valve.

is sounds like you have air in the system or a vacuum leak of sorts. something as small as a worn out end may be the culprit.

Just for grins again, disconnect the vacuum from the booster, and then see what they feel like.

wouldn't that cause the motor to stall?

i know it did that in my buick. i had to unplug the vacuum line from the booster to get behind the motor for a tune up and forgot to plug it back in and the car started but instantly shut off.

nOObs!

so if i can cover or seal the connector on the booster and the hose itself it should keep it from stalling?

Guys....... The engine doesn't have to be running to test the brake pedal out..... so there's no need to plug anything. You really dont even have to take the hose off. With the engine off, pump the brake a couple of times, and see how it acts. Once the vacuum runs out, the pedal should get harder.
