Default my car is a pool

for the past two days we have gotten alot of heavy rain. new carpet new interior and there is a river coming down. i have my cowl fixed with no rust or holes.windshield gasket has no tears in it. im thinking its coming thru the rubber gasket on the fender. i was planning on covering all the holes in my firewall with gasket material and tin. has anyone ran into this problem

If your cowl and windshield are not leaking, then it may be from the inner fender area. Take off your kick panels and see if there is a round hole there that allows water to come in behind the kick panel. Plug it if there is.

I have the same problem with my 66 fastback. I get water inside the passenger kick panel when I wash it. No leaks from the windsheild or cowl. Water seems to come in when I pour water into gap area between door and fender. Don't know what to do about it so I am careful when washing in that area.

That may stop the water from coming into the interior, but it's still going to pool inside the kick panel. I perfer to keep the hole open in order to dry out the area behind if needed.

Keep in mind, these old cars were far from water tight anyhow. Although mine is pretty tight, I will get water coming in through the fresh air vents under the dash if it really rains hard.

I'll also get moisture in my truck at times if its really wet out so the next warm day I pop the trunk and lift the matt till all is dry.

Do your best, but expect a bit of water sometimes.

I get no water in my trunk even with a heavy down pour. I replaced the rubber seal awhile back though. Maybe you should consider doing that.

I was referring to PhillyDog's statement about his getting moisture in his trunk.
