This may be a stupid question but does anyone know what exhaust makes the sound that the mustang in bullit does when shifting? my dad said around 68 the mustangs might have came like that from the factory. Any help would be appreciated.

 

That is a sound track not the car exhaust.

 

yeah, cars don't normally sound that way from the factory.

 

If you watch and listen to the Bullit stang during the car chase, it sounds like he has a 6 speed tranny. Also noticed that car was without a posi/trac-lock.

I believe that sound is more from not letting off the gas before pressing in the clutch, then a certain exhaust system.

 

yea i did wonder about the gears and notice it wasnt posi :-p and did you see the green beetle? MAN its fast its showed quite a few times while going over the hills :-p My dad says one of his neighbors had a 70 mach1 that sounded exactly like that when he shifted, i guess it is from letting off the gas.
