Default Proper dash paint?

I have received conflicting advice regarding the proper black paint for the metal part of the dash. The local mustang shop said Krylon "semi-flat" black is the proper paint, while a mail order shop says to use their "semi-gloss" black. Does anyone know the proper black paint to use?

it seems as if semi flat and semi gloss are the same thing, because half gloss means half flat don't it?, but i don't know anything about paint

It depends on whether you are optimistic or pesimistic. I would go with the semi gloss, or even a gloss. Save the semiflat for your engine compartment.

I am no expert in paint either. And I don't want to say your Mustang restoration guys are wrong, but mine appears to be semi-gloss. Take a look at the pic of mine and see what you think. It has never been painted since it came from the factory.

I agree, Soaring. The black paint on my dash, which appears original, looks like semi-gloss. I may just buy one can of each type of paint and test two small areas.

Now you're thinking. However, I'll bet you a cyber beer it is semi-gloss.

I just called the mail order shop again and mentioned the local shop's recommendation of Krylon semi-flat black. The person at the mail order shop said they have been doing business with the local shop for 20 years so if it recommends Krylon semi-flat, then semi-flat is probably right. I am going to get the semi-flat, since I can get it locally, for a test. If it is not right, I will buy the semi-gloss from the mail order shop for another test.

You're on. I should have an answer on the semi-flat by this weekend.
