Yep, they put the 385 series into the 69/70 engine bays...but only as a Boss 429 and after serious modification to the shock towers.

I agree the 460 would be nice, but unless you want to either add rack and pinion steering or duplicate Kar Kraft's work for the Boss '9, stick with the small block (or wait for an FE).

If I hadn't just finished my '65 F250 with its 390 HiPo, I woulda considered a trade. The 390 HiPo fits in a 69/70 real nice (and tight, but no modification necessary).
I would wait for one but the cost is pretty high although I'd rather have one of those.

Patience saves $$$$$. I lucked across my HiPo. A guy was selling a '65 F100 4x4 as parts (not original...just a bad butcher job). I mainly looked at it because it had a rebuild transfer case that matched the one in my '65 F250. I popped the hood [sm=bounceybounce.gif] and there was this beautiful HiPo with soda can headers. [sm=drooldude.gif] All for $200.

The rebuild wasn't too bad for price, about $900 with balancing and necessary machine work. It should be a little healthier than a stock HiPo, maybe 350hp versus the stock 335hp.

the easiest and best way to deal with your situation is to take the money you thought it would take to fit the 460 in your car and sell the 460. use all the money to rebuild the 351 to 425-450 hp. it will be best in the long run.

I have a 460 sitting in a '75 F100 and let me just tell you that they are INSANE engines... I'm not even considering putting it into my 68 because it would be too much work. I'm thinking about selling the truck/engine in the near future because I just picked up a '75 corvette and I want to get a crate 350 or a big block 454 pushing like 600 HP+ for that car. I was considering getting the truck beefed up a bit and setting it up for drag racing but when I found the vette for $4k I don't think I'll have time for the truck anytime soon

I'm near Kalamazoo, MI... My wife isn't wanting me to do too much to the vette and I don't have enough space at my house to keep all of my vehicles. The truck is out at my moms house about 15 minutes away so I don't really get out to it very often. I'm kinda storing it and running it every 2-4 weeks just to keep all the fluids proper.

The whole truck I've got about $4500 into currently so if I can't get $4k for the whole setup I'll just keep hanging onto it... Its a nice truck that lived in Minnesota where they son't use salt so its not rusted... I bought one of those little car tent type things that I'm going to seal it into and out of the weather once I get around to putting it up. I'm going to put something under the tires to prevent them from going completely to hell during winter/spring

Aluminum heads, aluminum oil-pan, aluminum valve-covers, aluminum radiator and maybe a 5-speed(probably a 4-speed though) so there will not be any MAJOR weight gains...there will also be several suspension mods(front and rear sway bars, springs, control arms, export braces, subframe connectors, and a couple of others). Will I be able to put the 460 in a '69 without cutting the shock towers? IF I don't have to cut the towers, then where can I find a kit that will allow me to put the motor in the car?
