can anyone out there send a pic of a body buck tag on a 1966 , and if this is where the vin # is located ( besides on the door tag ) would'nt it be easy to switch these buck tags from car to car ?

 

The vin is located on the top of the fender.... where the hood closes. A picture is worth a thousand words, but i dont have a pic. It's on the driver side, just open the hood, and look for a notch on the top of the inner fender.... The vin is stamped in front of this notch.

 

Here is my buck tag from a 66 coupe. It is on the driver's side inner fender, between the stamped vin and the hood hinge.

Be advised that not all cars came with buck tags. Certain years made in certain plants. If you don't have one it is not a worry.

my 66 was from muetchen, nj . so do cars from here also have a vin # stamped on the apron , or just have the buck tag ??

 

All early model mustangs had Vin numbers on the apron.

 

My car was built in Metuchen, NJ. I was pleasantly surprised when I first saw the car that the buck tag was still present.

My San Jose car doesn't have a buck tag. Just the number stamped on the apron.
