Default Paxton supercharger.. why not?

Other then the fact that they are pricy, why not add a paxton supercharger to a 289? I read that they add up to 40% more hp. I also read a post where they debated whether or not the older vesion (ball drive or something??) is much inferior to the newer kind (gear drive I think). What are some of the pros & cons to these things?

I saw this set up on ebay. what do you guys think....

Also found a guy who services these older superchargers..

Pros: You'd be the biggest badass this side of the moon. You get tons of power
Cons: costs a bagillion dollars. (could you send me the link of the cheapest one you find?)
Good luck. MTFBWY in finding a good cheap one!

I use to have a 2001 nissan Frontier Crew Cab with a v6 Supercharged, biggest piece of junk you can buy, but anyways i was getting 180 miles to a tank of gas, and it would cost me 90.00 cdn to fill it up with premium and that was driving it decently. You will be able to watch the needle drop. I was actually looking at there website a few days ago and thinking someday I would add one of those, but first I'm adding A/C and overdrive. Hoping to have my car finished in the next week. I will post pics when done.

I'm not sure how that set up would work. All the ones I have seen have a box that the carb goes in. The reason for this if the entire carb has to be pressurized becasue the bowls need to be pressurized too. If you try to ram that much air down the carb without the box it would blow fuel out of the bowl vents. I also understand they are had to get tuned correctly. They go like heck when you do though. All that being said I have been thinking about one too.
