That's awesome...can't wait for the pics. Did you create your s/n before you realized it was a 66?

Are you talking about being able to drink water while you work on your car?[8D] I guess age has it's advantages, we drink beer.

yea, i was really happy lol. the best thing is that it already had crager style rims with low profile tires and it has a true dual exhuast system which as i said before i think they are glasspacks. the only thing this car need to be street legal is a tail light. which is good, but the guy i got it from lost the keys to the doors/trunk in the trinity river about 5 years ago (im assuming that the trunk and doors are the same key becuase my ignition key doesnt work on the doors, which sucks becuase i cant lock the car once i get it streetable) I was wondering what would be the best way to go about getting replacement keys? or would i have to get all new locks....cuz that would kinda suck. thnx for all the info guys
another DFW member. are you guys in a drought too? this drought we are in is seriously affecting the work i can do to my stang.

Its got to be stolen! LOL $1250 for a 66 fastback....amazing. These parts you'd have to pay $3500 for a 66 coupe that was disassembled and stored in a POD crate. Have fun.

Today I went to go and look at what i thought was a 67 mustang fastback with an automatic trans and a 289, my dad had told me it was a friend of his and he wanted to sell it for $1250, i was told it only had 800 miles on the rebuilt engine and tranny. i had seen pictures of the car and had seen it from a distance (driving by) but never upclose. my dad talked me into buying and today when i went to go pick it up i was informed that i was not a 67 but i was indeed a 66 fastback. which i was very happy (i like them much more) then i looked inside and noticed that it wasnt an auto! it was a 3 speed. Which is good cuz i wanted a manual trans but bad becuase i havent ever drivin one lol. after i took the car back to my house (on a car tower) my moms boyfriend took me for a ride around the block and he stepped on it and boy let me tell u, that things got some *****. And its only a 289 with a 2v, glasspacks and headers. It does need some work, but about %90 is body work which i am happy about ill try to post some pics tomorrow for u guys
The hidden secret, and should never be known to the world, is that a stock 289 2v will sit your butt back in your seat, and get you a ticket just as fast as any restomod woopty doo Mustang. I just got back from a 300 mile trip, and during that trip I was in the right lane with a lame guy in the left lane trying to maintain speed at 80. The problem was that I was running 82 or so, and the guy in front of me was going like 78. I saw the opening to pass the guy in front of me, but I only had a few feet to make the pass because of the guy in the left lane maintaining 80. I punched Ol' Yeller, and she responded with a surge of power to easily fit into the hole and was able to pass the guy in front of me with no problem. No, it is not a hotrod, but it is a highway demon.

I just changed my locks and it was under $50 for the door and ignition locks. I had been led to believe it would cost hundreds and hundreds, then asked here ...

+1!! [8D]

mcf 67, your ignition key should be on it's own. my 66 has an ign key and door/trunk keys (don't have that one myself either) are a seperate key. you can get trunk/ign cyl's and door cyl's with keys at a decent price if you can install them yourself. the ign and trunk are easy. i dunno about the FB's but for my coupe, i just had to remove the rear seat back, crawl in to the trunk and un-bolt the assy to get it open, taking the cyl out is a breeze. you should be able to remove it in just a few minutes. your ign cylyou just need the key and a large paperclip. there sould be a small hole in the cylinder, this is where you insert the paperclip. than you put the key in and turn counter clockwise, you should be able to remove the cyl like that.

try www.mustangdepot.com for your cylinders. they have a good price on them.

No. The ignition and doors are the same key. I belivee its the square one. The trunk has its own key and its the round one it also locks and unlocks the glove box (optional lock fitted). Ford did it this way so when valet parking, you simply gave the driver the igntion/door key, and they did not have access to you trunk or glove box.
Clu7ch, yours must have been changed in the past.
