Replacing headliners WITHOUT removing windows
Has anyone had any success in replacing a headliner without removing windows on a pre-67 coupe?
I am about to replace the 65 and it looks like I can do it without removing the windshield and rear glass, but don't want to screw this up.
I can tell it is going to be frustrating - but it looks like removing the windows might just be a different frustration.
Any suggestions? I've read lots of instructions online and they all look scary.
Thanks!

While I agree that removal of the front and back glass is the correct way to install, I have installed a liner on my 67 coupe w/o removing the glass and have gotten good results. The difficulty is that instead of just wrappng the liner around the upper window frame, you have to tuck it under the rubber seal. It is doable, but takes patience. It took me a whole day, with a few frustration breaks, to get it installed.
I started from the middle and worked my way to each end. I used a dull putty knife to tuck the liner under the rubber. Fold the end of the line over the knife and insetert it under the rubber. Once I had it seated with the wrinkles out as best as I could, I then put the putty knife back in the fold of the liner (the excess will be hanging out at this point) pulled it out slightly and then trimmed the excess with a sharp razor using the putty knife behibd it to prevent cutting the installed potion of the liner. I then tucked it bak in with the knife. The reason I pulled it outslightly is is that so when you trim off the excess, it will be short enough that the end will tuck back in under the rubber. You may want to put some 3m adhesive on the back og the liner before initially inserting the liner into the rubber, but you will have to work quickly to trim the excess.
Good luck.

It can be done on a 67 and up, but the 65 -66 are different in that they have a rubber gasket and the liner goes under the glass. If you are going to do it, do it right and take out the front and rear glass.
OK, then I stand corrected. I thought the 67's and up only used the sealant and not the rubber gasket. At any rate, his 65 definitely has the rubber gasket and the glass has to come out. I had mine professionally done, and they took out the glass to replace the headliner.
what have you guys paid to get the headliner replaced? i'm curious because i've heard about many shops that won't take the glass out because of liability issues with breaking the glass and end up charging a whole lot more to take the glass out.
