A few drivetrain Qs
First, let me apologize if these are somewhere in here, I just did not find them. If they are, just let me know. =)
I recently bought a 68 fastback and I've noticed that I'm going through my gears awful fast. So much to the point that I'm cruising at about 3k in 4th and only going maybe 60 to 65. I really can't tell since the speedo doesn't read correctly. I was wondering if anyone knew some sites that could tell me what I needed to swap my tranny out with a 5 or 6 speed, what gear I'll need for my speedo, AND how to tell what ratio my rear end is set at. After what happened to me a few days ago I NEED a new tranny or to get my rear end extended out some because my coolant return blew up essentially and my engine almost seized. Anyway, I could use ALL the info I can so I can do this myself if possible. Thanks in advance.

Hey Dog....Welcome to the classic section of MF. Not sure what gears you have in the rear, but it sounds like you have maybe 411's or something in that range. If you want to swap out your tranny for a T5 with AOD, we have all that information in the FAQ section. If you haven't visited the FAQ, give it a try to see if all your questions are answered. If not, get back, and we will either look it up, or some of the guys on here will have the answer.
I have a spreadsheet that allows you to enter tire size, tranny ratios, and rear end ratios to calculate speed at various rpm's. There may be something similar on the web...I was just too lazy to do it that way...

Okay.. I'm a dork. That was the one place I didn't look, sory. I have been enlightened! All is well. Thanks.
